Republican Rep. Randy Fine of Florida on Monday sharply criticized Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show, calling it “disgusting,” “illegal,” and demanding what he described as “dramatic action” against the NFL and its broadcast partners.
Conservative criticism escalated following the game at Levi’s Stadium, with several Republican figures amplifying calls for penalties and even deportation, despite Bad Bunny being a U.S. citizen by birth.
The controversy underscored how the Super Bowl halftime show has become a focal point for partisan debate and broader cultural divisions within the country.
Posting on X, Fine argued that profanity aired during the performance violated federal broadcast standards and said similar lyrics delivered in English would have resulted in massive fines and an interrupted broadcast.
“You can’t say the f word on live TV,” Fine wrote, accusing the performance of containing what he described as pornographic content and saying the same rules apply to all Americans.
Fine said his office is sending a letter to the FCC calling for fines and broadcast license reviews against the National Football League, NBC, and Bad Bunny himself.

And Rep. Andy Ogles called for another department to investigate.
“The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show was pure smut, brazenly aired on national television for every American family to witness. Children were forced to endure explicit displays of gay sexual acts, women gyrating provocatively, and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-humping the air,” he said.
“And if that weren’t outrageous enough, the performance’s lyrics openly glorified sodomy and countless other unspeakable depravities. These flagrant, indecent acts are illegal to be displayed on public airways,” the representative said.
“That is why I am requesting that the Energy and Commerce Committee launch a formal congressional inquiry into the National Football League and NBC immediately for their prior knowledge, deliberate approval, and facilitation of this indecent broadcast. American culture will not be mocked or corrupted without consequence,” he said.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., praised Bad Bunny in Spanish in a post on X and later highlighted that she shares the surname “Ocasio” with the artist in a post on BlueSky.
“Ocasio gang rise up,” she wrote alongside a photo of Bad Bunny wearing an Ocasio 64 jersey.
One of the central complaints from conservatives was that the majority of the performance was delivered in Spanish rather than English.
“To have a fully Spanish-language halftime show, with no subtitles, isn’t inclusive, it’s exclusive,” Rep. Maria Salazar, R-Fla., wrote on X.
Salazar said the focus should have been on highlighting Hispanic contributions to the country rather than sparking division.
Media personality Megyn Kelly sharply criticized the performance during an interview with Piers Morgan, accusing Bad Bunny of using the platform to promote political views.

Kelly argued the Super Bowl should remain a unifying American event and criticized the use of Spanish throughout the performance.
Morgan pushed back, praising the show as theatrical and pointing out that the United States has no official language.
Kelly responded by saying the Super Bowl should remain “quintessentially American” in every aspect, including the halftime show.
